HELENA SÁ

Helena is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, performer and journalist. She started her career early, joining the renowned school 'CLAM', directed by the famous Zimbo Trio and it was here that she developed her musicianship, sense of rhythm and auditory perception. Starting on percussion and flute, she soon showed a talent for musicianship and so she quickly evolved into playing the piano and guitar as well. Her passion for singing soon became too strong though and it was at this discipline that she studied Brazilian popular music and contemporary soul. Whilst doing all of this, she simultaneous obtained a degree in journalism from Universidade presbiteriana Mackenzie, going on to work for magazines like Vogue and TRIP. Her thirst for performing couldn't be quenched though and singing at big clubs such as Na Mata Café and Boubourn Street in Säo Paulo only spurred her on. She followed her heart and in a bid to make music her profession, moved to London to study at Tech Music School, completing her diploma in Commercial Music Performance, and is set to add another degree to her belt graduating in June with a BMus (Hons) in Popular Music Practice. Alongside her studies Helena is a successful freelance musician and can adapt to any musical situation, from acoustic sets to large bands. Helena enjoys mixing Brazilian and English music and spares no time in showing to the world that she is here to stay.
