Hurst Junior High
More than 20 students from Hurst Junior High traveled
to Texas Health Resources in Arlington to participate in
a day filled with science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics (STEM). Hurst students participated in
interactive learning opportunities covering everything
from electrical analysis to food science technology.
Mentors from many STEM fields took time to teach
and to give practical advice on career choices, based
on their real-world experience. Scientists, engineers,
and doctors led breakout sessions on CPR and more.
Coaches from the WNBA’s Dallas Wings taught about
physical and mental conditioning through stretching
exercises and a competitive game of “land, air, and
sea.” The day concluded with a challenge: use the
learning from this event as a catalyst for future growth,
by continuing to seek out learning opportunities and
strong mentors.
