Demonstration Classrooms
Families, colleagues, campus and
district administrators celebrated last
school year’s Continuous Improvement
Demonstration Classroom awardees
Oct. 12 for establishing the standard of
excellence in HEB ISD. They set the bar
for student achievement in the district by
embracing the Continuous Improvement
structure in their classrooms.
What are Demonstration
Classrooms?
These
classrooms
serve
as
demonstrative models for how
teachers and students use a systems-
based approach to continuous
improvement to improve teaching and
learning. District leadership also used
demonstration classrooms to recognize teachers who were utilizing the framework to improve processes and
outcomes when HEB ISD implemented Continuous Improvement 14 years ago.
Who received the honor?
For the 2016-2017 school year, 69 teachers were awarded Continuous Improvement Demonstration Classroom
honors. These awardees represent both secondary and elementary campuses.
How are Demonstration Classrooms chosen?
Teachers complete Continuous Improvement rubrics individually and with their campus administrator. If their
rubric results show proficiency, teachers then collect portfolio samples demonstrating implementation of a
systems approach to continuous improvement in their classroom. Curriculum and Quality Learning team as
well as a panel of Executive Leadership Team members then evaluate portfolio and student achievement
results and determine which classrooms to recognize.
