Euless Junior High Junior World Affairs Council (JWAC) is one of many fun ac- tivities Euless Junior High offers for students. Spon- sored by Mr. Ben Archey, JWAC lets students who are interested in geography and politics expand their knowledge and awareness of current events. We were able to use those skills at this year’s Academic WorldQuest competition. Three teams from Euless Junior High competed with 90 teams from all over the DFW area to answer 100 current event questions. Facing off against sophomores, juniors, and seniors from local high schools, the EJH teams placed 22nd, 56th, and 63rd. We were the only junior high from HEB ISD in the competition! JWAC also provides leadership development opportunities that build character and respon- sibility. EJH JWAC’s first volunteer opportunity INNOVATE YOUR SUMMER! ELPA101 was at Bonton Farms in Dallas. Students gave back by cleaning out goat pens, filling up pot- holes in the parking lot, feeding chickens, and rehabilitating wood chip pathways. They had a ton of fun working with animals at the farm, and a few students even saw a chicken lay an egg!
