Spotlight On Andy Cargile Board Member

What is your favorite city that you have ever visited and why ?
What schools did you attend ?
I ' m a product of Dallas ISD ' s Thomas Jefferson HS Class of 1965 . After that , I went to Lon Morris Junior College on a basketball scholarship . I graduated with the East Texas State University ( now Texas A & M Commerce ) Class of 1970 and received a Master ’ s Degree in 1971 .
What is one quote or saying that you love , that keeps you going in life ?
If you take good care of the machine , it will turn out a better product !
What would be a perfect afternoon for you ?
I am a city kid , so New York City ! My junior college had strong arts and theater programs . I admired those kids and their talents . Some of my favorite things to do in New York are to go to the shows and just walk around the city .
What ’ s something that amazes you ?
Kids ! And , the things they accomplish every day . Sometimes they are treated as if they are too young to take responsibility , but they are amazing , they soak up all they can learn , and they are genuine .
Give us a brief bio of your career .
I was hired in HEB ISD as a World History teacher and assistant basketball coach right out of college in 1971 . In 1975 I moved over to Dallas ISD as a teacher and head coach at Jefferson High School and then to South Grand Prairie High School in
Spending the afternoon with my grandkids . Karen and I go to their games , watch them swim , and just live life . Our grandkids are our life !
Who was your role model that you looked up to as a kid ?
I was inspired by the high school basketball athletes just ahead of me . They were hard working and focused on doing their best . That inspired me and challenged me to do my best .
