STATE of the DISTRICT 2015 - 2016 Attracting New Families and Students Another way HEB ISD is Different by Design Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District is nestled in the heart of the DFW metroplex. Less than 10 years ago, district leadership considered the community to be “landlocked” and did not project much growth in its future. In the last few years, each of the three communities has experienced unexpected economic development shedding a new light and a new needs assessment for the school district. Student enrollment in 2005-06 was 19,978 and today is 22,834. This calculates to an increase of 2,856 students over 10 years averaging a growth of 286 per year. With HEB ISD ranking as one of the top 20 school districts in Texas, with an easy commute to both Dallas and Fort Worth, families are attracted to buying homes in the area. This growth is a combination of a number of developments taking place in the area, such as Viridian, Ken Newell, and the Glade Road Area growth. Being the financially healthy district it is, the conservative projection is growing by approximately 200 students per year. With this increase in student enrollment comes the need for additional instructional space. The district has continued to add portable buildings and find temporary solutions to accommodate this growth, but as it looks to plan for the future, HEB ISD will begin exploring options for permanent solutions including the possible construction of new campuses. 20 2 elementary schools grades k - 6 HIGH schools grades 10 - 12 22,762 3 5 JUNIOR HIGH schools grades 7 - 9 non-traditional campuses CURRENT STUDENT ENROLLMENT Projected student enrollment for 2016-17 school year 16 +3,270 students +1,703 students 7.5% 23,184 students growth in 5 years 14.3% growth in 10 years
