What’s
happening
around the
district
At Spring Garden Elementary, first graders are learning all about community leaders
from our very own Bedford celebrity, Mayor Jim Griffin! Thank you Mayor Griffin for
taking the time to visit with our students about our Social Studies curriculum!
At Donna Park, librarian Nancy Guirguis and 3rd grade
teacher Aris Musa created a bridge-building activity for a
science review week. Students were challenged to build
bridges to support the weight of dictionaries. Bridges were
made of K’Nex building sets, paper towel rolls, and other
basic materials.
Students from Bedford Heights and Stonegate participated in
Region XI’s 2nd-annual STEAM Carnival and Showcase in Fort
Worth! The STEAM Carnival spotlights technology-infused
games and immersive hands-on experiences that engage
visitors in science, technology, engineering, art and math.
L.D. Bell’s theatre program joined 8,000 students and teachers at
the Texas Thespian State Festival at the Gaylord Texan Resort.
Students participated in workshops, competitions, performances,
social activities, and leadership training and contributed to a
donation of 613 pounds of food for the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Twenty volunteers from the Goldman Sachs Corporation
came to teach BCTEA’s Practicum students. Almost 150
Academy Practicum students met with these professionals
to learn about financial responsibility, cyber safety and
security, resumes, and interviewing skills.
