Harwood Junior High
• Recognized as a 2017 Schools To Watch recipient from
the Texas Middle School Association. This designation
was only awarded to seven middle schools/junior
highs of over 1300 in the state. The Harwood STW
team presented at the National Schools To Watch
conference in Washington D.C. in June.
• For over 10 years, the HAWKS (Harwood Achieves
When Kids Succeed) mentor program has been
tremendously successful in keeping kids in school
and has helped school retention rate decrease to
almost zero.
• Named an Texas Honor Roll Student by the
Educational Results (ERP) and the Institute
for Productivity in Education (IPE) for the
second consecutive year. Only 21 of 521
schools in Tarrant County were selected.
• Ranked among top five middle schools
in Tarrant County by “Children at Risk.”
This organization serves as a catalyst for
change to improve the quality of life for
children through strategic research, public policy
analysis, education, collaboration, and advocacy.
