HEB ISD Schools & District Earn 98
“Distinctions” from Texas Education Agency
HEB ISD students, staff, and community have earned ninety-eight distinctions from the Texas Education
Agency!
TEA awards “distinctions” based on how well schools and districts do compared to a group of their peers --
schools of similar type, size, and demographics. Getting even one distinction is an indication your school is
performing much better than expectations.
Six HEB ISD schools received every distinction possible: Central Junior High School; Euless Junior High
School; Hurst Junior High School; Harwood Junior High School; Hurst Hills Elementary School; River Trails
Elementary School.
Additionally, HEB ISD earned the prestigious post-secondary readiness distinction. This is the only distinction
a district can earn, and HEB ISD was one of only 58 school districts in the entire state to earn it. This honor is
based on a combination of success in many areas: graduation rates, ACT/SAT participation and performance,
Career and Technical Education (CTE) graduates, and dual-credit course completion rates.
Hats off to these campuses and our wonderful district as a whole for receiving these honors!
