The students at Spring Garden Elementary who read atleast 1,000 minutes over the summer were invited to a Summer Readers’ Celebration! 41 students enjoyed ice cream sundaes, and the top readers received special recognition. We are growing readers in the Garden! Science came alive for fifth graders at South Euless Elementary as they studied matter and its physical properties. At South Euless, students are engaged in learning and excited about what will happen next in their science class! In October, Euless Junior High Texas history teacher Mrs. Isaac held her first Blizzard-Binder Test. Mrs. Isaac compared an organized binder to a Dairy Queen Blizzard -- both can be turned upside down without anything falling out. Students and their parents met Mrs. Isaac at Dairy Queen in Euless to show off their binders to special guest: Superintendent Steve Chapman. North Euless Elementary thanks Foundation Baptist Church of Euless for donating folders, notebook paper, scissors, glue, and more. Their donation has helped ensure that every child is equipped with the tools that they need to learn and succeed. Garret Schooling’s GT English 8 students at Harwood Junior High completed a weeklong project called Giver Utopia, based on the book, The Giver. Students designed their own community while working in groups. They were tasked with making decisions about their community’s government, education system, job force, and infrastructure. In the end, students presented their community and problem solution to their peers. 27
