PTA Showcase of Talent
On the evening of October 27 , the spirited students of Bedford Junior High put on a Showcase of Talent for their peers , parents , and community members . The crowd got to experience the fun and excitement of a BJH pep rally .
Fall sport teams were recognized including volleyball , football , cross country , gymnastics , cheerleaders , and our freshman L . D . Bell Athletes .
Additional organizations performing or recognized included our own BJH band and drum line , choir , drama club , and student council .
After the pep rally , PTA had a successful fundraiser with silent auction baskets . Bidding was conducted for an hour to provide the opportunity for many to participate . Baskets were provided by students , coaches , NJHS , and teachers and staff .
The evening was a celebration for our students , parents , and community audience which included HEB ISD Board Members , Superintendent Steve Chapman , and the Mayor of Bedford , Jim Griffin .

Fine Arts Programs
The spotlight is shining brightly on Hurst Junior High ’ s fine arts program , with almost 700 students in band , choir , or art . Students in all three programs have participated in exciting activities showcasing their gifts and abilities , while giving back to the HEB community .
The mission of the HJH fine arts department is to provide students with the skills and opportunities to flourish as artists , create and experience art at the highest possible level , make meaningful and memorable connections with their audience , and transfer their learning to all areas of their lives . More than 800 original student creations are showcased on Artsonia , an online art gallery dubbed as “ the largest student art museum in the world .” Check them out at www . artsonia . com .
In August , Hurst JH students joined with students throughout the district to welcome back teachers and celebrate the new year at the annual back-to-school convocation . On September 30 , choir students performed their fall concert , demonstrating their learning from the first six weeks of school . The choir once again raised its voice along with the choirs of the L . D . Bell at the Cluster Concert on October 3 .
Also on parade is the HJH band program , with over 300 students marching to the beat of the same drum . The HJH Jazz Band is in its sixth year , beginning this year on November 18 .
