Heaven's Gate: Chosing Suicide to reach the Next Level Apr. 9. 2013. | Page 3

Introduction

Heaven’s Gate became famous as a harmful doomsday cult in the eyes of the media in March 1997, following a mass suicide of its followers at Rancho Santa Fe, a luxurious mansion in San Diego, California.

In retrospect, we can say that the ultimate objective of the cult was to disconnect themselves from a material world that did not treat them well in their perspective. The build-up to the climax of Heaven’s Gate members taking their own lives was a considerably long and gradual journey but was something to be expected from the group due to various factors eventually falling into place, making sense in their system of belief.
