Vent-Axia launches new MVHR system
British ventilation manufacturer , Vent-Axia , has launched its first Passivhaus-certified Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery ( MVHR ) system , named the Lo- Carbon Sentinel Econiq . With the new Future Homes Standard looking set to reduce carbon emissions for new build homes by a further 75-80 % than current Building Regulations , the Sentinel Econiq is designed to provide low carbon heat recovery ventilation for air-tight thermally efficient new build dwellings , making it ideal for Passivhaus projects . The Sentinel Econiq offers strong efficiency , near silent operation , and complete controllability , all of which help to provide the optimum indoor air quality ( IAQ ) and occupant comfort . MVHR forms a critical part of a Passivhaus project since it successfully drives down energy demand . An MVHR system ’ s performance is considered an integral element of the primary Passivhaus heating demand calculation . Boasting impressive heat recovery and a specific electric power as low as 0.22 Wh / m3 , the Lo-Carbon Sentinel Econiq is now Passivhaus certified . Designed and developed in the UK to offer high levels of comfort and functionality throughout the year , the Sentinel Econiq ’ s maximised airflows and minimised noise and energy are achieved through cutting-edge EC motors and highly sculpted interiors . Providing impressive IAQ , the new Sentinel-X wireless control platform delivers complete control of the home environment , provided through a full range of wired / wireless sensors and an intelligent smartphone app . To further improve comfort , the Sentinel Econiq also features a built-in preheater as standard with optional duct heaters .
Japan expands Toshiba total heat exchanger heatcle air series
Carrier Japan Corporation ( CJC ) has announced that the company will expand the line-up of Toshiba Heatcle AirTM , a light commercial total heat exchanger series in Japan with nine new ceiling models with humidifier and six ceiling models with direct expansion coil with and without humidifier . CJC is a part of Carrier Global Corporation ( CARR ). With this new launch , CJC is newly adding ceiling models with humidifier to its lineup and updating ceiling and direct expansion coil models without humidifier as well as ceiling and direct expansion coil models with humidifier from the existing models . All models are equipped with high-efficiency DC motor . The newly-launched models complement the company ’ s conventional basic ceiling models and under-ceiling models with enhanced indoor air quality with humidifier and high- performance ventilation − offering superior energy efficiency and design flexibility . “ Adding a humidifier feature to our existing total heat exchanger models , which have attained high energy efficiency and ventilating performance , allows us to extensively address customer needs . The direct expansion coil models , that come with or without a humidifier , provide our customers with diverse choices for indoor units of VRF systems for buildings ,” said Toru Kubo , President , Carrier Japan Corporation . “ We continue our endeavor to develop products and solutions that exceed expectations , anticipate needs , and deliver added value to customers .”
ACT installs WAHX at 3M Korea ’ s semiconductor plant
Advanced Cooling Technologies , Inc . ( ACT ) proudly announces the successful installation of their Wrap-Around Heat Pipe Heat Exchangers ( WAHX ) at 3M Korea ’ s semiconductor plant , significantly enhancing cleanroom air conditioning performance . Facing challenges in maintaining consistent cooling and humidity levels , 3M Korea implemented ACT ’ s WAHX system , resulting in substantial energy savings and reduced carbon emissions . The WAHX system , installed in nine air handling units ( AHUs ), provides a passive , highly efficient method for pre-cooling and reheating air . This innovation has led to energy savings of over 1,050,000 kWh annually per unit , translating to approximately USD 320,000 USD , saved in 2023 , and projected savings of USD 440,000 for 2024 . Additionally , the plant ’ s carbon footprint has been reduced by over 1,100 metric tons . Encouraged by these impressive results , 3M is considering expanding the use of ACT ’ s WAHX systems to enhance cleanroom air conditioning performance for facilities in Japan , China , Taiwan , the USA , and the EU . www . heat-exchanger-world . com Heat Exchanger World September 2024
