Kanthal and Danieli announce strategic partnership
Kanthal , a world leader in electric industrial heating technology , and Danieli , a major global supplier of turnkey plants and equipment for the iron- and steel industry , have announced a strategic partnership to jointly scale up Kanthal ’ s demonstrated electric process gas direct-heating solution , Prothal ® DH , to full industrial scale . By installing Prothal ® DH in Energiron hydrogen-ready DRI plants , fully green DRI production will be achieved . Furthermore ,
the introduction of Prothal ® DH technology in blast furnace operation will reduce CO2 emissions in ironmaking . “ We are now taking another step towards commercializing largescale , electric gas heaters , which will be key to substantially reduce or even eliminate CO2 emissions . We ’ re excited to join forces with one of the world ’ s foremost experts in DRI technology to make the steel industry ’ s green shift possible ,” says Simon Lile , President Business Unit Heating Systems at Kanthal .
Lummus and Element Six announce partnership for PFAS destruction
Lummus Technology and Element Six ( E6 ) have announced an exclusive global partnership to tackle the destruction of perand polyfluoroalkyl substances ( PFAS ). PFAS are synthetic fluorinated compounds known as ‘ forever chemicals ’ due to their persistence in the environment and potential health risks , including cancer and infertility . Governments worldwide are regulating PFAS in drinking water and consumer products . Lummus President and CEO , Leon de Bruyn , emphasized the significance of this partnership in addressing PFAS destruction to protect public health and the environment . E6 CEO , Siobhán Duffy , highlighted the benefits of their diamond-based electrochemical solution in improving the environment and health . The partnership combines E6 ’ s patented boron-doped diamond ( BDD ) electrochemical oxidation technology with Lummus ’ electro-oxidation technology for water treatment . Together , they have successfully tested and destroyed long and short-chain PFAS using free-standing BDD electrodes . Lummus and Element Six are now working with customers to implement this technology in real-world applications .
Munters signs an agreement to acquire Geoclima
Munters has signed an agreement to acquire Geoclima , an Italian manufacturer of air- and watercooled chillers , enhancing Munters Data Center Technologies ( DCT ) cooling portfolio . Munters , a global leader in energy-efficient air treatment and climate control solutions , aims to expand into new markets and broaden its product range through this acquisition . Honeywell acquires Air Products ’ LNG business
Honeywell has acquired Air Products ’ liquefied natural gas ( LNG ) process technology and equipment business worth USD 1.81bn . Headquartered in Pennsylvania , US , Air Products ’ LNG business unit encompasses an extensive portfolio that includes in-house design and production of coil-wound heat exchangers ( CWHE ) and associated equipment . Through the acquisition , Honeywell aims to provide customers with an extensive solution for managing their energy transformation journey . By leveraging digital automation technologies unified under the Honeywell Forge and Experion platforms , the new offering will include natural gas pre-treatment and state-of-the-art liquefaction .
The full-service solution is expected to facilitate efficient and optimised management of natural gas assets to deliver better value the development of energyefficient data center cooling solutions and strengthen their global offerings . Stefan Aspman , President of DCT and Group Vice President of Munters , noted that Geoclima shares Munters ’ focus on energy efficiency and customer-tailored solutions , making their product range more comprehensive . The acquisition , subject to customary closing conditions and a restructuring of Geoclima ’ s legal entities , will be fully financed through existing credit facilities and is expected to close in the second half of 2024 . Founder Paolo Ferraris will remain as Managing Director for at least the next year to ensure a smooth transition .
