Unipetrol enhances operational stability
ORLEN Unipetrol RPA s . r . o . ( Unipetrol ), Prague , Czech Republic is a supplier of petrochemicals and refined products . As
indicated by the abbreviation RPA — representing refining , petrochemical , and agrochemical activities — Unipetrol supplies a
wide variety of products , including bitumen , fuel oils , motor fuels , liquefied petroleum products , oil hydrogenates , olefins , aromatics , agrochemicals , carbon black , sorbents , and polyolefins , such as high-density polyethylene and polypropylene . Like many companies in the chemical process industries ( CPI ), Unipetrol has demonstrated an increased focus on environmental stewardship by minimizing the consumption of raw materials and energy . This focus led to the selection of a holistic combustion-control solution , the CombustionONE platform offered by Yokogawa Electric Corp . ( Tokyo ), to address multiple corporate goals , including increased efficiency , reduced emissions , enhanced operational
stability , and improved operational safety . With Unipetrol , Yokogawa executed a conceptual engineering assessment , which led to a heater assessment study on a furnace . This defined the scope and deliverables for a pilot project and provided a clear understanding of the platform ’ s impact and return on investment ( ROI ). The pilot project ultimately led to a study of the entire olefin plant . After the successful pilot implementation , CombustionONE was deployed at three additional olefin furnaces . The remaining six olefin furnaces and a continuous catalyst regeneration ( CCR ) reformer in the refinery are in the process of implementing the platform in a subsequent phase , which is currently underway at the site .
Lufthansa Technik acquires Tulsa-based Heat Exchanger MRO provider
Trina Storage achieves UL verified mark certification
Lufthansa Technik has invested in a U . S . -based component MRO company as part of efforts to expand its footprint in the Americas region and strengthen its supply chain security . Through its U . S . holding company , Lufthansa Technik North America Holding Corp ., Lufthansa Technik ( LHT ) has acquired 80 % ownership of ETP Thermal Dynamics from Campbell Holdings Group . Based in Tulsa , Oklahoma , ETP Thermal Dynamics specializes in MRO services for heat exchangers , as well as oil coolers , fuel heaters , and electromechanical and hydraulic components . The company was established in 2016 , and its customer base includes LHT and Lufthansa , as well as a variety of airlines , MROs , OEMs , and suppliers — such as AAR ,
AerFin , Aerolineas Argentinas , American Airlines , Boeing , Delta Air Lines , EgyptAir , FL Technics , GE Aerospace , Honeywell , KLM , Korean Air , and SpiceJet . ETP holds approvals from the FAA and European Union Aviation Safety Agency ( EASA ) and offers more than 200 FAAapproved designated engineering representative repairs . Its more than 30,000 ft . 2 Tulsa facility employs around 30-40 staff . Lufthansa Technik Component Services ( LTCS ) is also based in Tulsa , and LHT says the proximity “ further facilitates post-acquisition activities and integration .” LTCS more than doubled space at its Tulsa facility in 2017 to 115,000 ft . 2 as part of a major expansion . The company is certified by the FAA , EASA , and the Civil Aviation Administration of China .
Trina Storage proudly achieved the world ’ s first UL Verified Mark certificate for the thermal performance of its liquid-cooled energy storage containers , issued by UL Solutions , a renowned global certification authority . This accolade highlights Trina Storage ’ s innovative prowess and the global recognition of its product quality in the energy storage industry . UL Solutions conducted comprehensive testing on Trina Storage ’ s liquid-cooled containers , evaluating factors such as temperature control precision , heat exchange efficiency , system stability , and durability . Trina Storage ’ s containers excelled across all tests , showcasing exceptional efficiency and stability even under extreme conditions . Leveraging cutting-edge liquid cooling technology , Elementa liquid-cooled containers effectively manage heat generation during energy storage operations , ensuring stable and safe battery performance . In terms of technological implementation , Trina Storage integrates advanced design features into its flagship product , Elementa 2 , including multi-modal chillers ,
heat transfer and conduction structures , pipeline flow topologies , and dynamic temperature control strategies . NTC temperature sensors are strategically placed across the entire battery cell surface , ensuring comprehensive and precise temperature monitoring . During the temperature control performance verification , battery surface temperatures were monitored throughout the charging , discharging , and resting phases . Real-time monitoring of these processes revealed a temperature variation of less than 2.5 ° C , achieving consistent compartment temperature and system thermal stability . Furthermore , the thermal management technology demonstrated outstanding performance in pipeline flow uniformity and liquid cooling plate consistency , with all test results meeting design standards . Compared to traditional cooling methods , Trina ’ s thermal management strategy extends the cell lifecycle by 10 %, providing strong assurance for the long-term stability of energy storage systems .
