BAT launches glo™ Hilo
BAT is saying‘ Hello to Hilo’ – a new premium Heated Product featuring Turbostart™ technology that pre-heats sticks in just five seconds. The device uses a Quartz heating element that uses both resistive heating and infrared waves. glo™ Hilo is a breakthrough system that will reshape the way glo™ is positioned in the HP category, allowing it to compete effectively in the premium segment. glo™ Hilo is available in four premium colours and features an innovative AMOLED EasyView™ Screen. To support glo™ Hilo, BAT is also launching the new‘ Myglo’ app which enables consumers to stay in control of their device usage,
personalise the display, find their device if it’ s been misplaced or lock it. New and exclusively designed consumables, virto™, have also been launched to support the glo™ Hilo system. virto™ consists of expertly blended tobacco delivered through a uniquely engineered structure for precision heat transfer to every part of the stick achieving a consistent airflow. virto™ is available in eight flavours across tobacco, fresh and novel profiles. virto™ is also equipped with StickSeal™ Technology which ensures zero fall out of tobacco. From 9 June 2025, glo™ Hilo and its new consumables, virto™, will be available for purchase at major convenience stores in Sendai City and on the official glo™ online store. Residents of Miyagi will also be able to purchase glo™ Hilo and virto™ from the glo™ online store. The glo™ range is sold in over 30 markets around the world.
UFI, a global leader in filtration and thermal management solutions as well as green hydrogen technologies, has won the Automotive News PACE Pilot Innovation to Watch 2025 award, reserved to innovations in the automotive and future mobility sector that are close to market launch, thanks to its CO 2
-based evaporator / chiller, making it the only winning company with a project conducted in the field of heat exchangers. This is a component developed to improve the technological efficiency of next-generation vehicles that need advanced thermal management, but also to meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations that require the replacement of traditional refrigerants with more environmentally friendly alternatives, such as CO 2
.
UFI already offers seven product lines designed for the thermal management of internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicles. The winning product of the prestigious Automotive News PACE Pilot Innovation to Watch award is the innovative CO 2
-based evaporator / chiller designed for next-generation vehicles, which need particularly advanced thermal management to support more capable batteries, faster recharging, and high performance. This innovative product is based on a stacked, vacuum-brazed plate structure that significantly improves the structural strength of the component, offering performance difficult to achieve with existing technologies based instead on micro-channels.
New York Power Authority to install new chiller
The New York Power Authority has started work to install a new chiller at the David M. McCarthy Memorial Ice Arena in Batavia that will ensure the facility’ s continued operation as an ice rink for the upcoming season. As part of the project, NYPA will replace the rink’ s existing refrigerant with a new carbon dioxide chiller. Carbon dioxide chillers are energy efficient, generate fewer emissions and operate reliably. NYPA also will replace associated coolers and pumps and add an additional heat exchanger. The project will be completed in September before the rink opens for seasonal use.
The nearly USD 2.7M project is supported by a USD 1.2M grant awarded to the city under New York State’ s Climate Smart Communities program, primarily administered by the state Department of Environmental Conservation( DEC). NYPA is a sponsor of the program along with several of its sister state agencies. The project will employ the use of a natural refrigerant, carbon dioxide, to cool the facility and the ice in compliance with the stringent requirements for ultra-low carbon emissions under the Climate Smart Communities program.
Frascold ATEX-HT series
Frascold expands its field of action in the HVAC field with new generation semi-hermetic compressors capable of reaching fluid temperatures up to 135 ° C. Frascold expands its field of action and meets market needs with the new series of ATEX-HT semi-hermetic piston compressors, specifically designed for use with hydrocarbons such as propane( R290), butane, and isobutane. The range integrates new generation components for advanced technology, designed to offer high performance in terms of application flexibility, reliability, and efficiency. In detail, with regard to versatility, the ATEX-HT series with R290 refrigerant offers the widest range of applications, compared to the solutions currently available on the market. As a matter of fact, its wide
speed adjustment range allows the compressor to operate at up to 25 % of maximum capacity, adapting efficiently to low-load conditions. The reliability and efficiency of the series are the results of an advanced design for use with HC, which provides for the use of components designed to ensure operational continuity and optimised consumption, even in heavy operating conditions. The ability to operate up to the maximum fluid temperature of 135 ° C with butane, 115 ° C with isobutane, and 85 ° C with propane, makes of Frascold compressors an ideal natural refrigerant solution to reduce emissions in the heating and air conditioning of medium and large industrial and commercial buildings. Integrated in reversible air-water and water-water heat pumps, they are used in healthcare settings such as hospitals, wellness and sports facilities, shopping malls and, above all, in the process industry. www. heat-exchanger-world. com Heat Exchanger World July 2025
