RefPlus ONS Series of outdoor CO2 condensing units
Trane high-temperature water-to-water heat pump
Trane ® , a provider of indoor climate control solutions and a brand of Trane Technologies , has introduced the RTSF HT , a hightemperature water-to-water heat pump capable of delivering hot water up to 110 ° C . The RTSF HT expands the Trane CITY™ portfolio of compact water-to-water heat pumps and chillers . Designed to meet the demands of industrial and commercial applications , the RTSF HT marks a significant step forward in decarbonising high-temperature process heating , which still heavily relies on fossil fuel boiler technology .
The introduction of the RTSF HT positions Trane as the first global thermal systems provider to offer high-temperature heat pump technology up to 110 ° C with standardised technologies , industrial-scale manufacturing , and a comprehensive sales and service network across Europe , the Middle East , Africa ( EMEA ), Australia , and New Zealand . To ensure reliability and performance , the unit is rigorously tested in Trane ’ s state-ofthe-art laboratory in Epinal , France . The RTSF HT is powered by Trane ’ s proprietary screw compressor technology and features ultra-low global warming potential ( GWP ) R1233zd ( E ) refrigerant . This combination ensures outstanding performance , achieving a coefficient of performance ( COP ) of up to 4.6 under typical operating conditions . The unit ’ s compact footprint , just 930 mm wide , makes it ideal for applications requiring high capacity ( up to 380 kW ) while optimising space efficiency and reducing installation costs .
RefPlus has unveiled its ONS Series , a line of outdoor CO 2 condensing units that feature air-cooled , vertical discharge designs equipped with ultra-quiet , high-efficiency fans . Part of the Evolution Series , these industrial-grade units are offered in various sizes to cater to the cooling needs of different equipment and
CO 2 systems using evaporators . These factory-assembled units include an air-cooled gas cooler and a choice of semi-hermetic , heavy-duty compressors from Bitzer , Copeland , or Dorin , complete with frequency variators and interconnecting pipework . Additional features include a
high-pressure CO 2 receiver , heat exchangers , optional heat reclaims , filter driers , oil tank / separator , shut-off valves , and related controls . Constructed from heavy-gauge galvanized or painted steel , the units are designed to optimize energy efficiency , reliability , serviceability , and cost-effectiveness . They come with low-noise , 31.5-inch ( 800mm ) industrial fans to enhance operational quietness . Each ONS Series condensing unit is equipped with a control box and wiring diagram tailored to customer specifications , with electronic controls providing comprehensive operational oversight .
Alfa Laval reveals the new T25 semi-welded plate heat exchanger
Alfa Laval introduces the T25 semi-welded plate heat exchanger — a compact yet powerful innovation designed to meet the demands of the
modern energy system . The T25 heat exchanger plays a vital role in the decarbonisation journey by supporting the scale-up of clean energy sources like green hydrogen , while also delivering benefits to established sectors , including the heating and cooling of buildings , heavy process industries , and power production . The T25 is the first in Alfa Laval ’ s new line of semi-welded plate heat exchangers , offering a wide range of plate and gasket materials tailored to withstand demanding applications . Alfa Laval ’ s semi-welded plate heat exchangers are built for
high-performance applications . Engineered to perform under pressure - just like the industries they serve . With unique features that extend gasket lifespan , ensure superior sealing under high pressure , and enhance thermal performance , these exchangers are designed for maximum efficiency . High serviceability boosts uptime and reduces CO 2 emissions . When it comes to scaling up clean energy , specifying a heat exchanger where true greatness is measured in performance is essential . Moreover , maximising efficiency is critical for decarbonisation . For
example , as hydrogen production scales , efficient heat transfer solutions become indispensable . Maximising the efficiency and lifespan of electrolysers are critical to making hydrogen competitive . With conventional heat transfer technology in electrolysers , up to 40 % of energy is lost in the form of excess heat . By using Alfa Laval plate heat exchanger technology , this excess energy can be reused in hydrogen production , improving overall efficiency . The T25 semi-welded technology helps make green hydrogen more affordable and accessible .
Alleima expands steam generator tubing capacity in Sandviken for nuclear segment
Alleima is expanding its steam generator tubing ( SGT ) facilities in Sandviken , Sweden , to meet rising global nuclear demand . The SEK 330 million investment will refurbish and reopen a previously mothballed facility , increasing SGT production capacity by 60 % by late 2026 . Fully operational by 2027 , the expansion will create about 90 jobs . The project positions Alleima to maintain its leadership in tubing for full-scale Nuclear Power Plants and Small Modular Reactors ( SMRs ). Göran
Björkman , President and CEO , highlighted the growth potential in nuclear and SMR technology , driven by increasing demand for fossil-free energy . Carl von Schantz , President of the Tube division , emphasized the strategic significance of the investment , citing Alleima ’ s proven expertise in the nuclear sector . With over 50 years of experience , Alleima has supplied more than 40 million meters of SGT for 120 + reactors worldwide , reinforcing its role as a trusted industry leader . www . heat-exchanger-world . com Heat Exchanger World December 2024
