Sharing industry expertise
The Heat Exchanger World team strives each month to bring you a wide variety of articles and topics relating to heat transfer . From design to fouling , maintenance to materials , there are many aspects of heat exchanger design , manufacture and use that are important to our global community . As an important yet niche area of many industrial processes , staying updated with the latest developments and technologies is essential . Equally vital is having a good network of industry peers you can turn to for advice and shared experiences when facing challenges or thinking of making changes . For all of these reasons and more , meeting other heat transfer professionals is essential to your working life – and the Heat Exchanger World Conferences & Expos are the ideal platforms for this . Held later this year in both Houston , TX ( USA ) and Rotterdam ( the Netherlands ), the Steering Committees have formulated the technical conference programs which will shortly be released . The exhibition floors are filling up , and the variety of exhibitors is truly impressive . If you ’ d like to get involved to showcase your company ’ s knowledge , products , and expertise to a global audience , get in touch and learn about the possibilities .
This month we welcome HRS Heat Exchangers as our cover story feature . The company is an expert in very challenging heat transfer applications and has developed technology able to take on the toughest media . Our editor , Iryna Mukha , spoke to Arnold Kleijn and Matt Hale about their technology , including the cutting-edge scraped surface heat exchanger range . Read all about this from page 8 .
Another highlight of this issue was penned by Baher Elsheikh from SABIC , who has examined cladding applications in shell and tube heat exchangers . As Lead Mechanical Engineer , Baher has a wealth of knowledge and experience in our industry that he is willing to share .
Additive manufacturing is of growing importance for heat exchanger fabrication , and Dan King has written a feature which examines how Ultrasonic Additive Manufacturing ( UAM ) is opening up creative possibilities when designing cold plates for specific applications . UAM is a method of printing metals at very low temperatures , based on ultrasonic welding technology . Read more on this development from page 38 .
The final article I ’ d like to draw your attention to comes from Taprogge , who explore the application of self-cleaning fluidized bed heat exchangers as a solution for indirect heating of laterite nickel slurry in High-Pressure-Acidleach plants . This is a highly specialized application and this technical article provides some valuable insights – read it from page 35 .
I hope you enjoy this issue . As always , your feedback is always welcome .
