are raised above the ground surface
through building a frame and filling it
with soil.
A raised bed garden holds several
advantages over regular in-surface gardens.
Better soil conditions. Because you fill
the frame, you can control the soil content. This can be a huge advantage for
people who live in an area with clay or
rocky soil. By mixing it with the right

Building your own raised garden
When building a raised bed garden,
keep in mind that you want to be able
to reach at least halfway across it from
each side. Otherwise you’ll have to
climb into the garden to reach the inner plants. Most raised bed gardens are
three or four feet wide. Six to eight feet
in length is typical because it is easier
to find lumber in that length.
Most frames are about a foot in
