New roles in the Heart Institute in 2024
Julia Dunn, CPNP-AC, Inpatient APP Dunn rose to her current role as an inpatient advanced practice provider( APP) in 2024 after having served as a cardiac ICU nurse at Children’ s Colorado for five years. She earned her certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Acute Care in 2023 and is now an instructor in pediatrics at the University of Colorado. Dunn came to us from Swedish Medical Center and Cincinnati Children’ s Hospital Medical Center as an oncology nurse. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the University of Cincinnati.
Bethany Norwood, DNP CPNP-AC / PC, Inpatient APP Norwood received her Doctor of Pediatric Nursing in Acute and Primary Care from Creighton University in 2024. After working for seven years as a pediatric cardiac ICU bedside nurse at Children’ s Colorado, she transitioned to an inpatient APP role within the Heart Institute and an instructor at the University of Colorado. Prior to her role at Children’ s Colorado, Norwood completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Kansas and served as a pediatric ICU nurse at Children’ s Mercy Hospital and Clinics.
Allison Reichhold, CPNP-AC / PC, VAD APP Reichhold served as an inpatient advanced practice provider within the Heart Institute for three years before transitioning to a subspecialty APP role on the ventricular assistive device( VAD) team in 2024. Before joining Children ' s Colorado, she worked in Chicago as a pediatric VAD APP coordinator from 2018 to 2022. Reichhold received her Master of Science in Nursing in pediatric acute care from the University of Pennsylvania and her acute care pediatric certification at the University of Colorado. In 2021, she was honored by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as Magnet Nurse of the Year in Transformational Leadership.
Jessica Church, CPNP-AC / PC, SV APP Church has been with the Heart Institute as an inpatient APP since 2004. In 2024, she transitioned to an APP role focusing on single ventricle heart disease. Church is following the spectrum of single ventricle patients from the interstage period through the Fontan procedure. She also sees patients in the Fontan Multidisciplinary Clinic. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College and her master’ s degree in Pediatric Nursing from the University of Michigan.
