So in 2012 she stopped making bags , refurbished the shop and extended the collections she stocked . The boutique now sells a variety of items including books , children ’ s toys , cosmetics , fashion accessories , jewellery , decorations and homewares .
The collection is tightly curated by Tytti and her team who travel to London , Paris , Milan , New York and beyond in search of new brands . “ I travel extensively to different retail fairs to source the best of the best of the best and I really only sell the best ,” she says laughing .
Among the forty to fifty brands available , many of which are only stocked in select London retailers , are cookbooks by Noma , soft toys from Moomin , cutlery and dinnerware from iittala , homeware by Maison Martin Margiela , jewels from Alex Monroe and scented candles by Bella Freud . Prices vary – there is a £ 252 stainless steel champagne bucket and a £ 8.50 column candle .
What does she look for when sourcing new products ? “ Something new , something exciting , something that hasn ’ t been seen before , something that hasn ’ t yet popped up in magazines ... creativity ,” she explains .
“ It ’ s actually getting harder and harder to try to find something that isn ’ t featured in lots of places so it ’ s kind of like talent spotting ,” she continues .
At present Tytti is spreading the word about the boutique with her newly hired staff dropping ten thousand leaflets ( luxuriously wrapped in tissue paper ) in the area . And fear not . If you ’ re not planning a trip to Aberdeen any time soon , Tytti hopes this year the collection will go online .
