“I was told tales about India and met lots of
people who spoke, dressed and cooked in a
way that intrigued me and made me wonder.”
“When I’m in the process it’s like I’m flying. Time
just passes in a flow of images and textures. All
the imaginative associations and fears of my
subconscious are there; they are the ones that drive
me to make the first marks. Then I go back over
them with a sterner eye and edit more deliberately.
It’s really satisfying…..it leaves me feeling clean”
he explains.
Rather modestly, David describes how his career
has taken off. “A couple of years ago I sent a novel
to an agent. At the time I had a drawing of a tiger
on my website. She saw that and showed it to her
friend who was a designer at Liberty, and that’s
how they came to commission me. That’s how
