A Victorian corrugated-iron chapel has
become Nick Kenny’s unusual home, and
shrine to interior furnishing through
imaginative recycling.
There’s a big difference between making your home
unique and choosing something completely unique
to be your home. Even more unusual still is artist
and craftsman Nick Kenny’s extraordinary residence,
located in a picturesque and historic town near the
north Kent coast, which appears to fall into both
categories.
The property is a singular looking church built at the
end of the 19th Century from prefabricated sections
of corrugated iron and affectionately known as a
‘Tin’ Chapel. Once mass produced and erected in kit
form all over the country, most in England have now
been destroyed, although many can still be seen and
