Any American who has visited London knows of the perils of stepping off a curb in a country where the traffic comes at you from the opposite direction . The walkways and roads warn the uninitiated to look the other way ; street signs and audio crosswalk alerts add their bit to help the wide-eyed tourists not get killed .
Similarly , everything in our world relative to pain management ( i . e . pharmacologic management of pain ) has been coming at us from the left , and we are now being encouraged to look to the right , to look to the world of non-pharmacologic pain management .
