HOLIDAY
TIPS FOR
HEALTHY SKIN
The most important thing you must know is that winter skin
is much different from the dewy skin you had in the hot sum-
mer months. Regardless of where you are in the world, you
can bet your skin changes with the seasons. Although the
changes may be subtle, understand that they will affect your
skin care routine in important ways.
To help you get ready for beautiful,
healthy skin, winter skin, here are a few
helpful tips:
1.
As the climate changes, the cooler temps and harsh
winter winds cause dryness and can make your skin feel
itchy. Ditch your everyday soaps and look for hypoallergenic
alternatives. Also look for similar alternatives for your body
care products.
2.
If your skin looks particularly dry, try applying a few
dabs of moisturizer during the day and again right before
bed to help your skin absorb the moisture while you sleep.
3.
Look for a new moisturizer as the winter approaches.
What you used during the harsh summer months may not
work as well in the winter months. Most people need a heavier,
creamier moisturizer in the winter. Make sure to avoid products
that contain sulfates and alcohol because both can be drying.
4.
Avoid hot water. Spending in a steaming
hot tub or shower promotes dryness.
Prevention
is best when
it comes to
good skin and
a healthy,
glowing
complexion.
The bottom line is that the winter months are not
the time to sit on your laurels and abandon a
proper skincare routine. In fact, it provides the
perfect opportunity to increase your use of
moisturizers and allow your skin to heal from
the damaging summer rays. Read the labels.
Try different products to see what works
best for you. Don't forget to do regular skin
checks looking for any abnormalities and
always consult a healthcare professional if you
find anything unusual or have any questions.
5.
Apply sunscreen even on cold,
cloudy, overcast days. The sun's rays
continue to be dangerous throughout the
winter months. Aside from the potential
for skin cancer, there's also the probability
of promoting aging and discoloration. Don't
forget your lips either. Use lip balm regularly
just as you did in warmer months.
