ROSEWATER,
W
The Elixir Of The Gods
e all know beauty starts on the inside. Because of
that, we have to remain mindful of what we’re doing
to our bodies. Are we exercising, eating right, and
keeping it properly hydrated?
A great way to keep hydrated is with water. Some of us drink
lemon water. Some of us prefer full-fruit infusions. Some of
us add mint to our water. But did you know that rose petals
can be used as something other than a pretty centerpiece or
cake decoration? These fragrant blooms can be used in your
water to help keep you hydrated. The benefits include a better
complexion, an increase in essential vitamins, and a great
tasting beverage. Who wouldn’t want those benefits?
Around the globe, cooks often use infused water in their meal
preparation to add a touch of sweet flavor to their dishes.
Now you can consider it a new treat for your skin as well by
adding it to your skincare regimen. By doing so, you’re doing
a lot more than keeping your skin fresh and hydrated. You’re
giving it the boost it needs. It helps your skin maintain its
pH balance because it keeps excess oils in control so that
they won’t cause blemishes. Rose water also keeps your skin
supple and soft. It can also help clear away redness, blemishes,
acne, eczema, and dermatitis because it contains strong
antibacterial and antifungal properties perfect for healing
scars and other wounds on your face when directly applied
or ingested. Another benefit that we can’t get over is that it
reduces fine lines and wrinkles too! You gotta love that! No
one wants wrinkles.
If the reasons mentioned above aren’t enough to
make you want to add a little rose water to your
water, how about the following?
This fragrant elixir contains vitamins A, C, E, and B. It
reduces inflammation, helps reduce stress, reduce
moodiness, keeps your skin supple, helps control
your appetite, and keeps you hydrated.
Did you know you can make it home? You sure can!
Here’s the recipe:
ɩ ɩ 5 to 7 stems of organic pink roses
ɩ ɩ Water
ɩ ɩ Large pot
Instructions:
01. Pluck the petals from the roses. Rinse them
thoroughly under warm water.
02. Place the petals in a large pot and cover
the petals with water—just enough to coat
them.
03. Heat over medium-high heat. When water
starts to boil, reduce heat, cover, and
simmer for 30 minutes or until the petals’
color fades.
04. Remove the petals with a strainer.
Refrigerate to cool. Store in refrigerator. One
batch should last about four weeks.
