A new month brings with it a promise for change. It’s in the air. We can shed our summer wardrobe and
embrace the traditions that make our hearts swell. Part of what fills our hearts with joy are the people
we love the most in this world.
This month while we welcome in the pumpkin spice everything, we want to sit and have a conversation
about serious topics that require serious thought. No one wants to battle a disease like Alzheimer’s.
No one asks for an AIDS diagnosis. No one hopes to one day have to worry about blood glucose levels,
but unfortunately, a significant number of people in the world—many of whom we love deeply—will
face those difficulties. What better way to cope with and come to understand the implications of
these health difficulties than to have an open, honest discussion about what they mean. How do health
problems affect our lives, how big of a toll do they take, and how can everyone, including the caregivers,
fight the battles head-on with the proper care, maintenance, and an extra dose of courage.
As we nestle into a comfy seat or take our places at the family dinner table, take a few minutes to have
a meaningful conversation and thank everyone for all they’ve done for you throughout the years. Don't
forget to offer a helping hand and make a commitment to stand by them as they explore treatment
options, many of which are outlined in this issue, and show them how much they mean to you one
magical fall day at a time.
Every month, we focus on health and happiness, but this month we are taking it a step further by helping
you ease into tough subjects with great care and, hopefully, a commitment to support someone who
may be struggling or to build your support system as you face your own health challenges.
As always, be well, strive for good health, and know that we here at Healthy Magazine still have you and
your loved ones in mind when we go in search of healthy and innovative ways to cope with whatever life
throws your way.
