WAYS TO
BOOST
YOUR
ENERGY
LEVELS
L
ike everyone else, I suffer the pain
of having to pry myself out of my
bed and actually put on pants. I also
lose motivation to continue my work
assignments after a deliciously heavy lunch.
However, no matter how much I want to
crawl back to bed, it’s just not possible. I need
energy to keep going. Through many trials
and tribulations, I found success by using
these methods:
SOAK UP SOME SUNSHINE.
Step outside for some vitamin
D. It’s a natural mood lifter. Alex
Korb, a neuroscientist, says that your eyes
react to sunlight, which sends signals to your
brain to produce and regulate serotonin.
After a busy week, get outside, hike a trail,
run or walk along the shoreline, play rugby,
do whatever you have to do to rejuvenate.
03
HIT THE GYM TO PUMP IRON.
Thanks to exercise, endorphins
rush through your veins, your
mood is lifted, and you function at
optimal levels.
CUT DOWN OR ABANDON
CAFFEINE ALTOGETHER.
(It sounds blasphemous, I know,
but trust me.) When you stagger
into the office at 8AM, the coffee maker calls
your name, but you must resist. Like a drug,
our brains can go haywire for coffee and
become dependent on it. Over time, your
body uses it as its main source of energy,
leaving you feeling sluggish. Kissing caffeine
(coffee) goodbye helps lower your blood
pressure, eases anxiety, and is wallet-friendly.
Embrace the caffeine-free Zen.

MAKE LOVE.
No kidding. Sex can kickstart your
brain back to life. (Seriously!) It
rewires you biologically.
EAT HEALTHY.
Combat your mid-morning hunger
pangs with healthy eats. Skip the
sugar-laden junk food, avoid the
vending machine, and say no to the cute gal
at the corner bakery. You don’t it. Eat healthy
foods for a natural, energizing snack that will
help you make it through the rest of your day

07
HIT THE SHOWER.
Need an instant wake up? Hop
in the shower to jumpstart your
nerves into action.
In Summary, avoid anything that drains you
or leaves you feeling irritable, sluggish, and
completely out of energy. Ditch the caffeine
and opt for water instead. Avoid the vending
machines and pack a healthy lunch instead. If
you don’t cook, stop by the local supermarket
and hit the produce aisle. Take a nice cool
shower, hit the gym, spend some time with
the person you love, get outside and enjoy
life to its fullest. The aforementioned tips will
never fail to keep you feeling wide awake and
full of energy. Now, get out there and carpe
the hell out of this diem!
GET ENOUGH SLEEP.
Less than seven solid hours does
more harm than good. Quality
rest can strengthen your immune
system, prevent illness, and lessen the
likelihood of fatigue.
