How To Make The Most Out Of The Holiday Break With Your Family… Who Wants To Win Movie Tickets? It’s a fact of life that we live in busy times, and with the advent of social media they’ve become distracting times. It’s easy for the family to feel disjointed. Parents are busy with work and running a household, the kids have school, then there are the after school activities, the social media, the texting, the tv, friends, movies, parties, dances, team sports….No wonder everyone is so busy! Here are a few ideas to help reconnect as a family. Take my Trivia Challenge And you could win too! #1: Stay present. This is a new phrase that’s taken shape over the last decade of so and with the distraction of the “world in the palm of your hand” it’s a great reminder. Make mealtimes and family hang out time a no phone zone. Reminding everyone that 10 years ago a phone would ring and many times no one would answer it can get everyone on the same page about staying present. #2: Ask questions and then listen. Sometimes we get so caught up in life, we forget to engage with the people who are closest to us. Whether it’s your kids, your partner, or your parents, get to know the person you are closest to a little bit better with some good old fashion gab sessions. #3: Family game night, the old fashion way. Before there was a Wii U or an Xbox 360 there were board games. Yahtzee, Sorry!, Clue, Life, they are all still around, plus lots of other fun board games have come out that aren’t just for parties. Families can reconnect and create some great memories with a good old fashion game night. #4: Create a no friend zone. Really, when you think about it, you are the best friend your kids or part ner can have. Create family space during these holidays that are no friends zones and then do some fun stuff like go ice skating, go for a walk, learn to knit, or sit around a fire drinking homemade hot chocolate. The holiday season is a great time to reconnect since there usually are so many days off. I hope they help to cement some lasting family memories for you this season… Thank You! Thank You!
