American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). Due to a wrong
number in a Sears ad misprint, a child called to check on where Santa

Aug. 2, 1870 – Tower Subway, the first underground tube railway, opened

Charlie discovered gold in a tributary of the Klondike River in Canada,
starting the Klondike Gold Rush.

Aug. 22 , 565 – Columba, an Irish missionary, reported seeing a monster
in Loch Ness, Scotland.

27 BC until his death in AD 14. It has
31 days because Augustus wanted
as many days as Julius Caesar's
month of July had (they took the
extra day from February.)
August was previously named
Sextilis in Latin – it was the sixth
month of the Roman calendar.
