Stress. We all experience it. Some more than others. We experience stress in response to the negative emotions that can come from an event, situation, thought, fear, etc.

Stress is inevitable. How we deal with it makes all the difference. Will we reach for substances to numb the negative feeling? Like sugar or wine, which leads to serious consequences down the road. Or will we engage in behaviours that truly bring rest for our stressed out souls? Like taking thoughts captive to Christ and renewing our mind with the Truth, and other behaviors like the rest-based activities that we are talking about in this issue. Not only will a lifestyle of worship and rest lower stress in your life, there are other tools in your tool box you can use throughtout the day and when stress hits to help manage the emotions that create the feeling of stress.

The benefit of using essential oils for stress management is that they can help soothe, calm, and uplift the emotions in a natural way. High quality essential oils are pure and potent, so only a little oil will be needed to help the user achieve the desired effect. By providing a safe, natural way to manage emotions, aromatherapy is a good alternative to many of the other mood management tactics out there.

While each essential oil has its own unique chemical makeup, every essential oil can be divided into one of two categories based on its chemical constituents—uplifting or calming. This is what makes essential oils so useful for managing negative emotions. When you lack motivation, enthusiasm, or inspiration, you can use essential oils with an uplifting chemical profile to help lift you out of a funk. When you feel frazzled, overwhelmed, or down, you can use calming oils to help promote soothing, grounding, or renewed emotions.
