Eye Opening Symposium
The 2nd Annual Eye Opening Symposium will take place
on October 15, 2015 at the Fayette County Extension Office,
1140 Red Mile Place, Lexington, KY, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30
p.m.
This free symposium is aimed at professionals and caregivers of those with visual impairments. The agenda features Dr.
John W. Kitchens, Retina Associates of KY, with an update
on the latest research and treatments affecting vision. Other
program topics include functional interventions, resources
that exist in the community to help the visually-impaired, and
ways that quality of life can be maintained despite vision loss.
The symposium is being sponsored by Retina Associates of
Kentucky to draw attention to the 3.4 million Americans who
have low vision or no vision. About 130,800 Kentuckians are
among those with visual disabilities.
The event includes lunch and is presented by a host of

FDA Approves 3D-Printed
Drug for Epilepsy Seizures
The FDA approved a 3D-printed drug,
Spritam (levetiracetam), for the treatment of
seizures in adults and children with epilepsy.
