Complications of Diabetes
It takes work to get healthy and stay healthy

For a person with diabetes, getting
healthy and having a healthy life may
mean the difference between comfort or getting “disease” in the form
of diabetes complications.
Diabetes is a serious medical
condition in which there is chronically too much sugar in the blood.
This happens either because sugar
is unable to get into the cells to
nourish them and/or because there
is insufficient insulin to allow this
transfer into the cells. If diabetes is
left untreated or there is not enough
control of the condition, complications are likely to develop. These
complications can include:
1. Cardiac disease and stroke,
which may result in heart attack,
damage to the circulatory system or
paralysis;
2. Neuropathy or damage to
peripheral blood vessels, which may
result in the amputation of a limb,
among other problems;
