Toward that end, OLLI offers a series of courses aimed at understanding and maintaining one’s health and encouraging one’s wellness throughout the life span. With courses like gymnastics and exercise programs, physical fitness, yoga and the “Marvelous Human Brain,” OLLI provides members opportunities to learn ingredients in both physical health and mental well-being. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UK is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. Over these five decades it has grown to offer educational and enriching courses, forums, special interest groups, day trips, events, and more for adults 50 years and older. The Bernard Osher Foundation, headquartered in San Francisco, was founded in 1977 by Bernard Osher, a respected businessman and community leader. The Foundation seeks to improve quality of life through support for higher education and the arts. OLLI at UK offers new and continuing courses each semester in Lexington, Morehead and Somerset. Courses are offered in a variety of topics and formats held in convenient community locations. The membership fee is $25 per year. Course fees vary, although most are $15 each. Some classes may have additional fees. Courses are offered in the following topic areas: Computers & Technology, Culture, Health & Wellness, History & Government, Languages, Literature & Writing, Out of the Box, Performing Arts, Science & Environment and Visual Arts.
