10 KEY FINDINGS RELATED TO CREDENTIALING AND PRIVILEGING

The information in this section is based on responses from 1008 medical services professionals surveyed 1 by HealthStream™ in December 2020 for the 2021 annual report . Following are 10 key observations from this recent research .

Nearly all ( 93.9 %) medical services professionals reported some level of satisfaction with the quality of the medical staff credentialing and privileging processes provided by their organization .
In an increase from previous years , more than two-thirds ( 71.9 %) of respondents reported they are either extremely ( 26.1 %) or very satisfied ( 45.8 %) with the quality of their organization ’ s credentialing and privileging processes . Only one-fifth ( 21.9 %) reported they were only somewhat satisfied , a decrease from the 2020 survey , and 5.5 % reported dissatisfaction . These findings remained similar to results from the 2017 , 2018 , 2019 , and 2020 surveys , indicating that there still remains opportunity for improvement .

It should be noted that of the 1008 medical services professionals who were surveyed , some 375 did not advance through the entire survey due to the categorization of their organization as either a commercial COV , physician or group medical practice , health plan , or other . Seven of these 375 did not advance due low or no awareness about this topic or due to their organization not performing Medical Staff Credentialing or Privileging , thus disqualifying them from completing the survey .
