Similar to past survey results and activities within other initiatives , most respondents indicated they were unable to fully , successfully implement any of the Service Expansion activities . However , in an increase from previous years , more than half of respondents were able to fully or partially implement four of the eight activities .
In previous surveys , the Service Expansion initiative typically had the fewest number of activities that more than 50 % of medical service professionals indicated were fully or partially implemented . Consistent with 2019 and 2020 data , the same three activities surpassed 50 % in 2021 and the data showed increases in the percentages of participants who reported full or partial implementation — handling delegated credentialing services ( 61.3 %), managing the Provider Directory for the “ Find the Doctor ” functionality ( 60.2 %), and developing an integrated provider onboarding process across multiple departments ( 59.8 %). However , for the first time in several years , more than 50 % of participants reported implementation of one additional activity — managing the Provider Enrollment process for providers by requesting their participation in a health insurance network as a Participating Provider ( 51.1 %). The remaining initiatives clustered closer together , ranging from approximately 25-40 %, including handling network management and managed care responsibilities ( 40.5 %), providing and tracking CMEs ( 39.4 %), managing or coordinating graduate medical education programs ( 36.5 %), and non-provider credentialing services for employees ( 25.6 %).
More than one-third ( 34.2 %) of respondents indicated that managing the Provider Directory for the “ Find the Doctor ” functionality on a website was fully implemented at their organization , consistent with the data from 2020 . Closely following behind this activity were handing delegated credentialing services ( 31 %), managing the Provider Enrollment process for providers ( 27.5 %), and developing an integrated provider onboarding process across multiple departments ( 23 %). The remaining activities were indicated by lower percentages , ranging from approximately 11-21 %. This included managing or coordinating graduate medical education programs ( 21.4 %), providing and tracking CMEs ( 20.8 %), handling network management and managed care responsibilities ( 20.4 %), developing an integrated provider onboarding process ( 18.6 %), and non-provider credentialing services for employees ( 11.6 %).
