Respondents indicated the implementation of a single , master provider database was the top activity to be fully and successfully implemented within the Provider Data Management initiative , consistent with survey results from 2018 , 2019 , and 2020 .
As with the preceding initiative , respondents rated the degree to which Provider Data Management activities have been implemented . While some 43.1 % of participants reported their organization has fully implemented a single , master provider database for their enterprise that is the single source of truth for provider data , that number nearly doubled ( 80.1 %) when either partial or full implementation was reported . Similar to previous years , the remaining activities trailed substantially behind the implementation of a master provider database .
Managing , updating , and validating data on referring providers was the second most fully implemented initiative at 22.4 %. This was followed by the integration of provider data with downstream applications at 17.3 % and the creation of new data roles at 11.9 %. The least reported implemented activity was adding data , such as CAHPS , social media information , and information that reflects patient input , at 7.9 %.
Consistent with 2020 survey results , when considering the partial or full implementation of Provider Data Management initiative activities , the ranking order of successful implementation stayed the same with one exception . The implementation of a single , master provider database remained the highest ranked activity , with 80.1 % reporting they had successful implementation . Following that activity was the integration of provider data with downstream applications at 49.8 %, outpacing managing , updating , and validating data on referring providers at 48.6 %. From there , the creation of new data roles ( 34.5 %) was ranked fourth , followed by adding other kinds of data to the provider database ( 23.6 %).
