From 2017 to 2018 , there were three activities that showed significant increases ( all significant increases in the table below are indicated by green text ) where more than 50 % of respondents indicated full or partial implementation of that item . In 2019 , nearly every category that reported a fully or partially successful implementation increased in percentages from 2018 , but only five activities demonstrated a significant increase in percentage from 2019 to 2020 . Five activities showed a decrease in percentage of those who reported a fully or partially successful implementation from 2019 to 2020 .
From 2020 to 2021 , there were four areas in which the percentage of respondents indicated full or partial implementation significantly increased , as seen in the table below . Those activities that showed significant increases included : implementing a paperless process for your committee reviews and decisions ( Process Improvement ), standardizing privileging criteria , forms , and core privileges across the enterprise ( Centralization and Enterprise Standardization ), handling Delegated Credentialing services ( Service Expansion ), developing an integrated provider onboarding process across multiple departments ( Service Expansion ).
Three activities showed a decrease in percentages of those who reported a fully or partially successful implementation from 2020 to 2021 , as seen in the table below . These included : implementing an automated , paperless process for online provider applications ( Process Improvement ), implementing a single , master provider database for your enterprise that is the single source of truth for provider data ( Provider Data Management ), and integrating your provider data with downstream applications including EMR , laboratory , pharmacy , billing , payer and marketing databases ( Provider Data Management ).
The activity managing , updating , and validating data on referring providers under the Provider Data Management initiative also decreased from 51.9 % in 2020 to 48.6 % in 2021 , but is not shown in the table below due to falling below the 50 % mark of being fully or partially successfully implemented . It is important to note that the previous year this activity showed a significant increase from 46.6 % in 2019 to 51.9 % in 2020 , whereas this year it decreased once again . There were no documented decreases of the degree of implementation of activities with the Centralization and Enterprise Standardization initiative and the Service Expansion initiative .
The following table highlights those activities in which more than 50 % of survey respondents reported their organization had fully or partially successfully implemented each activity , along with the data from previous surveys for comparison purposes . Again , note that the text in yellow indicates any significant increases from the previous year .
