HealthStream recently surveyed more than 900 healthcare leaders to ask their opinions about past improvement initiatives , the impact of the pandemic on their organizations , and their views about the future of healthcare .
Leaders told us that improvement initiatives over the past decade had not prepared them well for the challenges of this decade , and they overwhelmingly agreed their organizations have been devastated by the pandemic . Based on these findings , HealthStream might well assume leaders ’ outlook on the future would be on the pessimistic side . Yet , the opposite is true . Despite the many challenges of the recent past , the vast majority of healthcare leaders are optimistic about the future of the healthcare industry .
Optimism for the Future
• Just over half of healthcare leaders ( 50.8 %) said they were “ highly optimistic ” about their ability to handle the challenges the industry will face over the next decade .
• An additional four in ten ( 41.8 %) said they were “ somewhat optimistic .”
