National Recognition: The UOI East Bay Surgery Center, located at the practice’ s Kettle Point location in East Providence, was once again named as one of the nation’ s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers by US News & World Report.
UOI Innovation: S. Chris Tian recently became the first in RI to implant a Closed-Loop Spinal Cord Stimulator to help relieve chronic spinal or neuropathic pain, while Dr. Andrew Green became the first in New England to use ARVIS ®, a groundbreaking augmented reality( AR) guidance system for shoulder joint replacement surgery.
• Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers: For the second consecutive year, U. S. News & World Report ranked UOI’ s East Bay Surgery Center among the nation’ s best— one of only three ambulatory surgery centers in Rhode Island to achieve a“ high performing” designation.
• Top Workplace USA: Based on employee feedback, USA TODAY once again named UOI one of the best workplaces in the country.

• On a Mission: Top Docs Dr. Julia Katarincic and Dr. Craig Eberson continue to deliver orthopedic care to children in need in Honduras, while Dr. John Czerwin and X-ray technologist Francesca“ Frankie” Agwunobi brought vital aid to schoolchildren in Nigeria.
• Mark Palumbo Memorial 5K: The 2025 event raised $ 45,000 for The Tomorrow Fund, bringing total contributions to $ 222,000 since 2021. The proceeds support children being treated for cancer at Hasbro Children’ s Hospital and their families.
Fall Pre-Participation Clinic: The UOI team welcomed 158 student-athletes to its annual Free Fall Pre-Participation Exam Clinic, helping ensure they are ready and medically cleared to compete.
UOI 5K Check Presentation: University Orthopedics presented a $ 45,000 check to The Tomorrow Fund. The proceeds from the 2025 running of the Mark Palumbo Memorial University Orthopedics 5K will help support children being treated for cancer at Hasbro Children’ s Hospital and their families.
