Cintas C . A . P . E . Awards Recognize EVS Professionals For Their Excellence
The ten winners of the Cintas C . A . P . E . Award ( Cleaning to Advance the Patient Experience ) were announced this past September . Each winner received a $ 2,500 cash prize and a $ 2,500 donation to their healthcare institution . Cintas is proud and honored to spotlight two of the ten outstanding C . A . P . E . Award recipients for 2023 . It does not diminish the actions , stories , or accomplishments of any Award recipients or those nominated for the Award . It ’ s truly inspiring to read about Jeannette Louidor and Benita Crawford , two exemplary individuals recognized for their outstanding contributions and selflessness in healthcare .
Jeanette Louidor , Orlando Regional Medical Center
Jeannette Louidor is an Environmental Services Technician who was proudly recognized as a continual source of inspiration and emotional strength for her patients , guests , and team members whenever needed . An example of her continuous commitment to going above and beyond the call of duty is when , in early 2022 a young woman in her late 20s had a stroke and required brain surgery . She had lost the ability to speak , walk , and do daily activities for herself . She was fortunate to arrive on Jeannette ’ s floor to receive her kind and watchful attention . The young woman remained in the hospital for three months . Every time Jeannette went into her room , she would encourage the patient ’ s mother to be happy around her daughter , always showing as much positivity as possible and explaining that doing this was so important , as her daughter needed her positive energy to keep her hopes elevated . When the patient was alone , she would reach out her hands to Jeannette , who would remove her gloves , wash her hands , hold the patient ’ s hands , and with
the young woman ’ s encouragement and permission , would pray with her . Listening to the expressed concerns and wishes represented by her body language and facial expressions and responding to Jeannette ’ s gently probing questions , Jeannette would encourage her that God was in control and could make her talk and walk again . A year after the young lady ’ s discharge , while Jeannette was at work , one of the nurses from the unit summoned her : “ You must come and see something !” She rushed over to the nurses ’ station , where the patient was standing with the assistance of a cane . When she saw Jeannette , the patient cried out : “ Mama !” then she began to walk toward Jeannette and gave her the biggest hug while crying profusely . “ Thank you , thank you ,” she wept . They held each other for what seemed to be forever , crying tears of joy . The patient was walking with a cane , and even though her speech had not returned 100 %, she could speak well enough so that others could understand . Today , they continue to be in touch , strengthening their relationship .
Benita Crawford , University of Kansas Health System
Benita Crawford is an Environmental Services Technician , who invests her time , talents , and so much of her life at the University of Kansas Health System . Last year , Benita had a patient who was homeless and soon to be discharged from the hospital . The day she was discharged was a very cold day and when Benita saw her she gave her the jacket off her back as a gift so that she would be warm . One of our Patient Care Assistants witnessed this selfless act . Benita expected no recognition , but co-workers

said her action reflected Benita ’ s character that day . Benita ’ s colleagues report that she consistently goes above and beyond her duties . Not only do the rooms she process look spectacular , but she also never complains . Her co-workers , nurses , doctors , and patients recognize her investment in patients when she takes the time to talk with them and their family members . Many close relationships have been formed over her years of service . Co-workers say they have heard her sing to patients , ask visitors if they need directions , and offer her support and prayers to struggling families .
Given the exceptional qualities and the numerous instances of selflessness and dedication highlighted in all the submitted nominations for the 2023 C . A . P . E . Award , Cintas is pleased to recognize all C . A . P . E . Award nominees and recipients . Cintas thanks everyone that invested their time and talent in submitting hundreds of nominations so that many dedicated Environmental Services professionals could be recognized .
