of direct primary care is how much more personal attention it provides — including longer visits , without feeling rushed — given that providers cap the number of patients , Bame- Anderson explained .

“ The average primary care provider has anywhere between 1,500 to 3,500 patients on panel ,” she said . “ These doctors and nurse practitioners here in Monticello all have that many .”

Motivity , even when it reaches its full patient capacity , will only ever have a fraction of that .

“ Here , we cap it between 400 to 600 patients ,” she said . “ Once I have 400 patients on panel , I will hire

another provider — be it a nurse practitioner , physician ’ s assistant or a physician . This lets us provide 30 to 90 minute visits for each patient .”

In addition , it means there ’ s no wait time to get into the office , with sameday or next-day visits available .

“ Not having to wait for an appointment and the direct access is what people really appreciate ,” Bame- Anderson said .

She explained exactly what having direct access to a care provider means , as it ’ s something that most people have never encountered before .

“ Having direct access to your primary care cuts out all the middlemen ,” she said . “ It cuts out all the hoops of having to get

to your primary care provider . It can be hard to get in touch with them , or they end up charging you . It just cuts out all of those extra obstacles . You don ’ t have to talk to the front desk , who would then transfer you to the nurse , and the nurse would pass all of that on .”

Patients can even send texts during off hours , Bame-Anderson said , getting a response directly from her . She gave an example of someone who hurts themselves while cooking dinner on the weekend — a situation that would normally require waiting until Monday to call the doctor ’ s office or taking a trip to an urgent care center or ER . “ Say you ’ re opening a
