Charleston couple grateful for cancer care close to home.
Neil and Kathy Bradford are life partners. Married for nearly 42 years, the couple spends much of their time together enjoying music and community festivals and finishing each other’ s sentences.
“ When one of us was down and out, thank goodness the other was at full tilt,” Neil said.“ We’ ve always been partners in all we do.”
Attitude is everything for these two, as they both continue to feel very blessed despite individual battles with cancer.
In 2010, upper back pain led Neil to seek care from his doctor. The doctor thought Neil’ s back pain may have resulted from moving furniture, so he suggested that Neil take a week off work as a painting sub-foreman for Eastern Illinois University. The situation went from bad to worse the following week when Neil went to Sarah Bush Lincoln with bacterial pneumonia and suffered a heart attack in the Emergency Department. Blood work revealed that
