However, there is still a controversy about pro-choice and pro-life and the use of embryonic cells is a big “no” for many people. By using these embryonic cells these scientist are towards pro-choice which is what a great deal of people are against. As for the author Krauthammer says “It is a gateway to the ultimate vanity: immortality.” Organ cloning will cause immortality in his mind as well as putting it in to others mind to persuade them to think just like he does on the situation. Statistics show that only twenty-six percent out of a hundred people are against human cloning. That is a whole seventy-four percent that is on board with organ cloning. Krauthammer also brings up the time Clinton banned human-cloning research funds for five years, Krauthammer now believes the congress should ban it all together while they are at it. Many do not believe it will even work because it has low success rate but this is only because scientists are very limited with what they are capable of doing with laws set in place. When really all organ cloning is making a copy of an organ that a person may need, a twin organ is what it looks like. There is no real monster being created in a science room in the middle of nowhere with organs in a jar. Organ cloning is not to make human’s out of science but to make parts that are necessary to benefit the people.
Personal control of organ cloning for future hereditary diseases is also an object that is questioned here. The name itself is for future hereditary disease which means families past history needs to be considered here. Without families past history there is not a sure way of figuring out whether the person may or may not have future organ problems. Without this information there is no certainty that the organ cloned for the person will be used if that is not what that person needs. If someone has the money to create clones of all the organs that are usually needed that may help but if they are never needed then donation would be considered and recommend to those in need of them. The personal control side is about these organs that are being cloned are made for the person them self with their tissues and cells are being used to make up this identical healthy organ. “Although control over one's life plays an important role in both physical and mental health, the concept of personal control also infers responsibility” (Brownell 3). This individual is using their personal control of their body to make for them self a better future, a healthier future for them self because it is that persons responsibility. Who is to stop the individual that has full control of their body keep them from making a clone of their organ or organs for them self or family member, the only thing is the research. The technique is not yet achieved because of the limitations scientist have on cloning. Slowly but surely these scientists are discovering new ways to not break the law to achieve new discoveries that will benefit organ cloning but research still needs to be done before it is for certain.
Scientists are the source of these experiments and are the reason why these discoveries on organ cloning were even found in the first place but to say medical progress is the only sole benefit to why organ cloning is to be researched more is not right. The purpose for organ cloning is not for medical and scientific purpose only but it is for personal control to the actual person them self. Yes it might benefit the scientists who discover this and master the organ cloning technique but it will solely benefit personal control of our bodies. This discovery would help thousands suffering with failing organs and have no other option but to wait in line on the transplant list that is filled with other of thousands of people that are in their same situation. Families would no longer have the worries of other families refusing to give up their loved ones organ to someone else in need. There are just so many problems with organ transplants and organ cloning can solve most of these problems that individuals are facing every day. To think that the next time a new organ is inserted into a body the body does not reject the new organ.
