The Women Who Do It All IN HONOR OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY TAKING PLACE ON MARCH 8, HEALTH SPOKE TO SOME SUPERWOMEN IN DUBAI WHO JUGGLE FAMILY AND WORK AND PROVE THAT WOMEN CAN DO IT ALL. SAMAR NABULSI ABDUL–MAJEED IS THE CO-FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S RETAILER AND INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE BUSINESS ‘BIG ON CHILDREN’, THE 2014 RECIPIENT OF THE ARABIAN BUSINESS START UP’S “SME OF THE YEAR”. SHE HAS TWO CHILDREN. Q) HOW HARD IS IT TO JUGGLE KIDS, FAMILY, AND WORK? “I am not going to sugar coat the answer, it is hard! However, I consider myself very lucky because I count on my work partner to be there when I can’t and my husband does help out whenever he can.” Q) WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR OUR READERS WHO ARE STRUGGLING WITH FAMILY AND WORK? “Seek out support by having a good team that you can depend on to get the job done and done right. You cannot be everywhere all the time, so handpick your team. Also, knowledge is power. If you know what you are up against or you understand the dynamics of your business, life, and family, then you hold the key to success in your own hands. Knowledge will put you in a much more powerful position to make any decision in life, especially in business. Then remember to have fun because if you are not having fun doing what you are doing, then find something that inspires you. You only live once, so why not make it count from every angle?” Mar/Apr 2016 34
