Top tip: Provide engaging
and interesting images
that are high resolution
and don’t include six
people ( six men in suits).

This panel made clear that journalists are
interested in technology in health but that they
have a public interest responsibility to provide a
balanced presentation. Key issues for them are
privacy and holding patient data. This should always
be addressed by health innovators in the stories they
share. Some basic principles for communicating
successfully listed by the panel include: provide
factual & new information, explain tech jargon,
provide engaging high resolutution images & multi-
media content where possible & always have a
spokesperson available.
Finally, you should involve a patient/person who can
share their perspective and whom the public can
identify with, as public opinion influences whether
journalists cover a story.

Healthcare is being transformed by a transition
from episodic care to a focus on health and from
digitization. Mark’s presentation discussed the con-
vergence of these two macro trends and the oppor-
tunities to create transformative value at the point of
convergence.
Sharing his 30 years of experience he talked about
the importance of value creation at the intersection
of the future of healthcare and digital technology,
with the clear conclusion that greater investment is
needed in transformative care where these intersect.
Especially, when it is likely that the first person to
live to be 1000 years old will be born in the next few
decades!
