Volleyball athletes are also more likely to fight against Rotator Cuff Tears and Tendonitis. The rotator cuff tear is a rip in the tendon that pulls the arm up perpendicular to the body. Rotator cuff tears can require surgery to either replace the shoulder entirely or put the tendon back together. A lot of physical therapy is required after the tear and athletes don’t return to the court for quite a few months. Rotator Cuff Tendonitis occurs after overusing it and can occur after not taking care of a rotator cuff tear.
While volleyball is a dangerous sport that comes with many injuries, these injuries can be avoided. Athletes need to take proper actions to insure that they will not be injured. An athlete should always take a check of system functions to make sure everything is still working right. The most an athlete can do is stretch properly, cool down right, and strengthen the muscles that need to be strengthened.
