Dear Duke,

I know that it is hard dealing with homework, school stress, and family, I’ve dealt with those as well, but using alcohol to drown your sorrows will not solve anything. Some of the short-term effects of excessive drinking can be unconsciousness, vomiting, headache, and many others. Some of the long-term effects include permanent damage to the brain, liver disease, heart related diseases, and many more. I can tell you that, it’ll be hard to open up but just find people you can really trust so then you can go to them for help whenever you need. If you find that friends are not understanding of your problem, you can always go to an adult for advice and how to help you through your problem. If you need I’m always here for you, but you need to know that alcohol is not a good solution to anything. The Bible says, “Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Proverbs 20:1 1” So you should not let it control you because it will control you and the way you think and act. Try and find other ways to help yourself face certain problems that way you can keep yourself away from the temptation. The Bible also says, “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. Romans 6:12-13” Finally I will leave you with this verse, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20” Remember that you were made by God. Do not let yourself harm your body. Knowing that there are other solutions, you should go towards those solutions so that you can still glorify God and keep your body pure. I will always be here for you whenever you need a friend to talk to, so come to me when you are struggling. No matter how bad your problem may be, I will never judge you and love you endlessly, so please don’t be scared to open up and share your problems. Every one of you friends are here for you too, they won’t judge you, they all want you to be better.

Your friend,

Ally
