Overcoming Eating Disorders: The Skinny On Being Too Skinny

Many adolescents today strive to be thin and trim, and it is no longer just an issue with only girls. In fact, many boys have developed a negative body image over the last decade. The images of super skinny models and actors has led to a generation of individuals who are so concerned with their body image that many have developed an eating disorder of some kind in order to control/manage their weight. It has become so common that Kids Health speculates that one or two out of every 100 youth will develop an eating disorder.

What is an eating disorder?

The dictionary defines an eating disorder as, any of a range of psychological disorders characterized by abnormal or disturbed eating habits. This means that any individual demonstrating signs of strange eating habits could either have an eating disorder or be at risk of developing one.
