Ways to
Enjoy the
Outdoors
in Cornwall
When we talk about getting outdoors we’re
not talking about extreme outdoor activities like
climbing a mountain or sailing the seas, although
you can certainly consider these if you are able
enough. Instead we are talking about finding
reasons to pop outside for some fresh air and
enjoy life outdoors every now and then, instead of
spending the winter cooped up inside.
This can be as simple as opening the back door
and breathing in some pure oxygen. Or even taking
a few strides around the garden. If you’re up to it
you could put on the gardening gloves and tend
to the flowerbeds in preparation for the spring. The
winter is a good season to get out in the garden.
This way you get to spend time in the outdoors with
all its benefits, while getting some chores done.
Taking a stroll in the park can be equally
restorative. Find a nice route around the park that
you can manage and make it a regular outing. Or

you could make it a habit to feed the ducks or sit
on a bench and watch the world go by. If you enjoy
watching the waves, you may want to visit the local
beach and spend some time admiring the views.
Just remember to wrap up warm and keep an eye
on the tide.
If you are mobile or have a friend or relative
willing to take you out, there are loads of places in
Cornwall where you can visit for a special day out in
the outdoors. The South West Lakes Trust has many

and Roadford, many of which have walking trails as
well as cafés to visit for a hot drink or a snack.
